This is a sampling of relics collected by Harry Ridgeway over the years.  This archive record is for educational purposes only.  Some of the relics listed may be on display at the Old Court House Civil War Museum, Winchester Virginia, some are no longer owned by the author.  None of the items listed in this section are for sale, please refer to the separate sales catalog for items that are currently offered.

All  items listed are believed to be authentic to the Civil War or as otherwise described.   Any excavated relics have been recovered from private property with owners permission.    This information is available for research purposes, pictures may be used by permission only.


B4965     Mississippi Cavalry "C", (20.5mm)

Depicts a five pointed star with "C" for the Mississippi Cavalry. Hyde & Goodrich supplied uniforms. 
Backmark: "HYDE & GOODRICH / (dot) N - O. (dot)" rmdc on stippled field, Scovill produced ca 1860. (Hyde01) 
Two part high convex coat button. 
Stand up shank intact, top grade gilded nondug button.

B4650     Mississippi Infantry "I" button (20.5mm)
 
Depicts a five pointed star with "I" for the Mississippi Infantry. Hyde & Goodrich supplied uniforms. 
Backmark: "HYDE & GOODRICH / (dot) N - O. (dot)" rmdc on stippled field, Scovill produced ca 1860. (Hyde01) 
Two part high convex coat button. 
Stand up shank intact, top grade gilded nondug button.

B5029     Mississippi state seal flat star "local" button, (22.2mm)
 
Star often used by Mississippi, flat star design was copied from pre war version, on a lined field.
Backmark: "C. BELLENOT / * N. O. * ", Confederate local produced by C. Bellenot, New Orleans (Bellenot01)
Shank intact, trace of gilding, smooth patina. Two small cracks have been filled in.
Two part convex coat button, rare marked "local"
Recovered: Vicksburg Mississippi
