"Extra Quality" "Extra Fine, Extra Gilt, Extra Plate, etc backmarks were generic stock backmarks or tradename backmarks denoting quality. There are many variations of this backmark, uncertainty as to who the actual producers were of some of them, so all are listed here as I find them..

Backmark:"EXTRA / (dot) (star) (dot) GILT (dot) (star) (dot)" rmdc mottledchannel sloppy backmark is similar to other Steele & Johnson marks butnot proven to this maker, (Extra Gilt.100). Reference: Tice, Dating Buttons, page 87, (Steele & Johnson).
