Gourdin et Cie was a French maker of high quality buttons. Most buttons supplied to the American Civil War were Naval.

Confederate Adjutant General Department, "G&C Paris/ 21m" dm with a coat of arms, (21mm)
Backmark: "G. & CIE... (graphic) PARIS / "21M" dm inner ring of dots, (Gourdin Cie.100). The Adjutant General's Department button is one of the most desirable of all Confederate collectibles. All were made by Gourdin & Company of Paris. The button depicts the Confederate battle flag with 13 stars and "Confederate Army / A.G.D."
