Button depicts eagle with wings in relaxed position, intended for Confederate officers, southern wartime manufacture, a "local". This die pattern features an eagle facing right with wings in relaxed position, lined background, button is two part with flat false rim designed to give the appearance of an officer style three part staff button Backmark: "W. WILDT & SON / RICHMOND VA." rmdc, backmark is usually illegible, attributed to William Wildt, a jeweler in Richmond Virginia, (Wildt.110). Two part convex button with false rim, coat size. Dug button, gilded, shank intact, fully intact, ground action. Recovered: Charles Town West Virginia or Maryland campaign, by Tim Painter. Reference: Albert not listed, Tice CS245A1.
