Federal Infantry one piece buttons (GI32 to GI53), up to1820's generally 

This is the "Ridgeway Reference Archive", a research tool for educational purposes only, and is provided at no cost to the reader.   Some of the relics listed are retained in the author's collection, most reside in other collections and are not owned by the author.  None of the items listed in this section are for sale, please refer to relicman.com sales listings for items offered for sale.  This is a work in progress, I list items as I get to them, there are many patterns that are not listed yet, this list will be regularly updated as I get pictures and descriptions for more items.  I will also correct mistakes, so if you see any please tell me. All  items listed are believed to be authentic to the Civil War or as otherwise described.   Any excavated relics have been recovered from private property with owners permission.    This information is available for research purposes, pictures may be used by permission only.



Federal Infantry button, eagle beside shield, one part low convex, solid silver, J Delarue, (21.2mm)
Button depicts eagle beside a shield with "REG'T, intended for infantry officers 1810's to 1820's.  Pattern was intended to have the regiment number inscribed onto the shield.  This jeweler made button appears to be solid silver and was probably custom made as required.  Backmark: "NEW. ORLEANS / J. DELARUE" rm script lettering, between two solid rings, a New Orleans jeweler 1811 to 1824, (Delarue01)One part convex solid silver button, coat size.

Button depicts eagle beside a shield with "REG'T, intended for infantry officers 1810's to 1820's.  Pattern was intended to have the regiment number inscribed onto the shield.  This jeweler made button appears to be solid silver and was probably custom made as required.

Button depicts eagle beside a shield with "REG'T, intended for infantry officers 1810's to 1820's.  Pattern was intended to have the regiment number inscribed onto the shield.  Backmark:  "ARMITAGE / PHILa", rm between two raised rings, one part convex button, back is concave, ca 1810's to 1820's, (Armitage01).  One part low convex button, large coat size.

Button depicts eagle beside a shield with "REG'T, intended for infantry officers 1810's to 1820's.  Pattern was intended to have the regiment number inscribed onto the shield. 
Backmark:  "ARMITAGE / PHILa", rm between two raised rings, one part convex button, back is concave, ca 1810's to 1820's, (Armitage01).  One part low convex button, large coat size.  Dug button with silvering, stand up shank.   Recovered: eastern Virginia.

Button depicts eagle beside a shield, intended for infantry officers 1810's to 1820's.  Pattern was intended to have the regiment number inscribed onto the shield.  Backmark:  "ARMITAGE / (star) PHILA (star) ", rm inner solid ring, one part flat button, 1820's, (Armitage11).  One part flat button, coat size.

Button depicts eagle beside a shield, intended for infantry 1810's to 1820's.  Pattern was intended to have the regiment number inscribed onto the shield.  Backmark blank back, one piece coin style button with fitted skin, (BlankNorth19Small).  One part flat button, hat or sleeve size.

Button depicts eagle beside a shield with "REG'T, intended for infantry officers 1810's to 1820's.  Backmark:  blank back, with concentric rm rings around shank, ca 1820's , (BlankNorth17).  One part flat button, large coat size.
