Original was finely struck on heavy sheet. This was a well made plate from the 1830's

Militia square plate, manufactured by Historical
Reproductions
This plate is cast thick and is very close to the original.
Buckle measures 69mm x 68/mm (there is no border so measurements are
not very meaningful.
Editor note: Plate was obtained directly from Historical Reproductions, Jeff Posey, as a sample of his production to be used in this presentation. Maker marks are present but they are weak.

"Very nice early war of 1812 era eagle beltplate. Excellent condition with
intact hooks on the back, but missing the belt attachment piece on the back.

"This Early reproduction Militia plate is cast in red brass. Originals
have been dug from battlefields and campsites. For a belt plate that is sand
cast it has beautiful detail. Wearable or collectable"
