Weapons of the Civil War
All weapons listed on this webpage are strictly manufactured before 1898, and are considered unsafe for actual use. These are antique collectible weapons of the Civil War (most are pre 1865, unless I state otherwise) and actual firing of these weapons is not recommended for any purpose whatsoever! Because these are all "pre 1898" weapons, no licenses are required for ownership, but common sense and good judgment are real good things to have.
W0790 Remington 1861
Army Revolver, .44 cal
This Remington revolver predates the "New Model" and
employed the Beals frame modified to conceal the threads in the breech. It is
relatively scarce piece numbering to about 15,000 following the sequence started
with Beals. Octagon barrel is marked: PATENTED DEC. 17 1861 / MANUFACTURED BY
REMINGTONS' / ILION, N Y" Serial number under the barrel, "2549"
early issue. Inspector marks "PJ" on barrel and frame, "C"
on the brass trigger guard. Inspector cartouche on the left grip.
Metal appearance pleasing with light rust, wood solid with dings and scratches
from use, mechanics fully functional.
Barrel is 8 inches.
