M1516...Confederate currency, $50., issued September 2, 1861
Note bears "CSA" watermark, and is printed on one side only. This is scarce early issue of a high denomination bill in the early war.

Note is crisp and is encased in plastic case and has been graded by PMG as "30 very fine".

M0942...Confederate currency, $5, December 2, 1862, 3rd Series, G. Currency was authorized October 13, 1862 and issued by the Confederate government December 2, 1862, " SIX MONTHS AFTER RATIFICATION OF A TREATY OF PEACE BETWEEN THE CONFEDERATE STATES AND THE UNITED STATES / The CONFEDERATE STATES of AMERICA / Will pay FIVE DOLLARS to the Bearer on demand / FUNDABLE IN STOCKS OR BONDS OF THE CONFEDERATE STATES / RECEIVABLE IN PAYMENT OF ALL DUES EXCEPT EXPORT DUTIES". Note depicts state capitol building at Richmond, Virginia, at center, and, C. G. Memminger, Confederate Secretary of Treasury, at right, black print on pink paper, blue back with "V" and "5" repeated five times. Printing: "J T Paterson & Co " and "Engraved by Keatinge & Ball, Columbia, S. C.".

This uncirculated note was cancelled, there are two clean "+" cuts rendering the note un-useable, note probably was never issued for some reason.

Currency was issued by the local government of Richmond, Virginia, April 19, 1861, "CORPORATION OF RICHMOND / Promise to pay to the Bearer / TWO DOLLARS / when presented ??. / Receivable in City Taxes." The note depicts graphic artwork, image of JohnLetcher, Virginia Governor, black print, on plain paper, pink overlay covers nearly the entire note making it very difficult to read, plain back. Month and year is printed, day is hand inscribed, serial number is hand inscribed, signature is hand signed. Printing: Printing: "Hoyer & Ludwig, Richmond, Va".

Currency was issued by the local government of Richmond, Virginia, April 14, 1862, "THE CITY OF RICHMOND / Will pay to Bearer, on Demand, ./ THIRTY CENTS / when presented in sums of One or more Dollars. And this Note is receivable for any Dues to the City of Richmond. / [ Authorized by Act of Assembly. ] ". The note depicts minimal graphic artwork, no images, black print, on plain paper, plain back. Date is printed, serial number is hand inscribed, signature is hand signed. Printing: not indicated.

M1156...Confederate Bond $500, issued March 2, 1863, 7%, coupons $17.50, pink paper. Confederate States of America Loan. AUTHORIZED by the ACT of CONGRESS. C.S.A. of FEBRUARY 20th, 1863. On the first day of July 1868, the Confederate States of America, will pay to the Bearer of this Bond at the Seat of Government, or at such place of deposit as may be appointed by the Secretary of the Treasury, the sum of FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS, with interest thereon from date at the rate of Seven per Cent per annum payable, semi annually on the surrender of the annexed Coupons. This contract is authorized by an Act of Congress approved 20th February 1863, Entitled, "An Act to authorize the issue of Bonds for funding Treasury Notes and is upon the Express Condition that said Confederate States may from time to time extend the time of payment for any period not exceeding thirty years from this date at the same rate of interest upon the surrender of the Bond. Bond was signed Richmond second day of March 1863. There are seven coupons for interest of SEVENTEEN 50/100 DOLL'S each beginning July 1, 1865 and running to July 1, 1868. Apparently four coupons for the period, July 1, 1863 to January 1, 1865 were cut for redemption. The 12th coupon, January 1, 1863 either was removed by the Treasury at issue or not printed.

Confederate Bond, denominated $500, issued March 2, 1863, pink paper, 7 coupons remain. Bond measures 15in. by 15.in. approximately.

Note depicts Judah P. Benjamin, Confederate Attorney General and Secretary of War, black with reddish overprint, plain back. Date is printed, serial number is hand inscribed, signature is hand signed. Printing: "Lithog'd by Evans & Cogswell" and "Engraved by Keatinge & Ball, Columbia, S. C.".
