P2727 ### Hanover Brass repro: US Enlisted Artillery Two Piece Belt Plate.
This is an example of Hanover Brass commercial grade reproduction, the plate has been produced in quantity, sold to the living history market, and is generally readily available. The product has also been used as feedstock for fakes, with chemical aging and other alterations. Gary Williams has provided the following pictures and explanation:
Photo # USGP5 Plate 253 (1839 US Enlisted Artillery Two Piece Belt Plate) 52 x 73mm/smooth wreath ht. 48mm. Marked GW inside the cast disc. I use the original for the master pattern. Size is important because this is a very close copy. Also try to find a casting flaw to use.

P2729 ### Hanover Brass repro: US Artillery Two Piece Belt Plate.
This is an example of Hanover Brass commercial grade reproduction, the plate has been produced in quantity, sold to the living history market, and is generally readily available. The product has also been used as feedstock for fakes, with chemical aging and other alterations. Gary Williams has provided the following pictures and explanation:
Photo # USGP7 Plate 253 variant. (1839-1851 US Artillery Two Piece Belt Plate.) 52 x 73/wreath ht. 48mm. Marked GW. Original is in the John Bracken collection. This Artillery US is close to the one I list as plate 253. The difference is that I have used this pattern from 1970 and still cast it today. The other is a new pattern that I bought lately and use it because it has a better detail US . The best flaw to use is the S. Note that the top of the S is uneven and not well rounded. I see this US faked so beware. Also this plate is 2mm's smaller. Pick out other casting flaws to use for your reference.
