P2783 ### Hanover Brass repro: Federal sword plate.
This is an example of Hanover Brass commercial grade reproduction, the plate has been produced in quantity, sold to the living history market, and is generally readily available. The product has also been used as feedstock for fakes, with chemical aging and other alterations. Gary Williams has provided the following pictures and explanation:
Photo # ESBP20 Plate 604 1852-1855 Eagle Officers Sword Belt Plate 50 x 80mm (Solid Brass) GW stamped under the hook. This plate was copied from a original that had an applied nickle silver wreath. I only cast this buckle solid brass. This type wreath is not reproduced. Note the Eagles head looking in the wrong direction.
