P2791 ### Hanover Brass repro: Federal sword plate. This is an example of Hanover Brass commercial grade reproduction, the plate has been produced in quantity, sold to the living history market, and is generally readily available. The product has also been used as feedstock for fakes, with chemical aging and other alterations. Gary Williams has provided the following pictures and explanation: Photo # ESBP28 Plate 612 1851 Eagle Sword Belt Plate (US/Allegheny/Arsenal) 51 x 85mm. Applied 3-piece nickle silver wreath. GW stamped under the hook. Also the Eagle emblem is applied. Look close at the stamping in the back. The original was stamped after casting and has no sand marks in the stamped letters. My reproduction has the sand marks in the stamped letters. This stamping is in my master pattern which comes out in the sand mold. The original silver wreath goes under the Eagles wings and nothing like the wreath I use. The wreath tips are all wrong but the only tips I can get. Another buckle to study from plate 612.
