P2764 ### Hanover Brass repro: Federal sword plate.
This is an example of Hanover Brass commercial grade reproduction, the plate has been produced in quantity, sold to the living history market, and is generally readily available. The product has also been used as feedstock for fakes, with chemical aging and other alterations. Gary Williams has provided the following pictures and explanation:
Photo # ESBP1 Scroll Back Eagle Officers. 50x82mm. (reproduction size) The original is 1mm larger because I use the original for my master pattern on ALL the Eagle Officers belt plates. NOTE: This is a easy belt plate to tell from the original. Original was stamped brass with the scroll back applied, soldered on. My reproduction is solid cast, heavier and cast hook. The original had a brazed on hook.

This is as close to the original as you will get. It is marked with GW. A beautiful belt plate to wear or display. Solid yellow brass . This Eagle buckle is marked and sold as a reproduction even though it definitely looks original. Note the Scroll design back.
