P2768 ### Hanover Brass repro: Federal sword plate. This is an example of Hanover Brass commercial grade reproduction, the plate has been produced in quantity, sold to the living history market, and is generally readily available. The product has also been used as feedstock for fakes, with chemical aging and other alterations. Gary Williams has provided the following pictures and explanation: Photo # ESBP5 Plate646 1865-1875 Eagle Officers Sword Belt Plate. 50 x 82mm. 1mm smaller than original. GW stamped under hook. Wide hook cast thicker than the wide stamped brass hook. Shows sand marks on hook. This plate has six pointed stars, not five. Book says its Marine Officers. I braze the hook to the back just as the original was done. GW stamped under the hook and sometimes on top side of hook. The no. 25 is stamped in the back belt bar.
