P2769 ### Hanover Brass repro: Federal sword plate. This is an example of Hanover Brass commercial grade reproduction, the plate has been produced in quantity, sold to the living history market, and is generally readily available. The product has also been used as feedstock for fakes, with chemical aging and other alterations. Gary Williams has provided the following pictures and explanation: Photo # ESBP6 Plate 653 1863-1865 Eagle Officers Belt Plate 51 x 82mm Reproduction size. Original is 1mm larger. GW stamped under hook. Hook is thicker and cast as the original had a stamped brass hook. Another plate very close to the original. You need to be sure the GW is not filed off.
