Plate depicts US surrounded by a wreath intended for officers during the Mexican War period. Plate is rectangle, fine casting, US and wreath were made separately and applied, hooks were integral casting and then bent, round impression in the back may be an indication that the plate was die struck after casting to sharpen it.
