P2841 ### Hanover Brass repro: California Two Piece Belt Plate. This is an example of Hanover Brass commercial grade reproduction, the plate has been produced in quantity, sold to the living history market, and is generally readily available. The product has also been used as feedstock for fakes, with chemical aging and other alterations. Gary Williams has provided the following pictures and explanation: Photo # USCA1 Plate 338 (1855 California Two Piece Belt Plate.) 52 x 97/wreath ht.53mm. Marked GW. The original is a crude casting and relic hunters dig this plate in mining towns out west. My reproduction is two mm's smaller than the original and this is a very rare belt plate. The W. T. & Co. on the back of the tongue and wreath of the original is very clear but on the reproduction this is hard to read. Research Center: Plate3299-California-338-FAKE-FANTASY-REPRODUCTION .
