P3240 ### F1240 New York sword buckle manufactured by Hanover Brass, pattern 668Plate measures (46.2mm to 49.9mm) X (78.9mm to 79.2mm), (plate is not square)Editor note: Plate was obtained directly from Hanover Brass. This is reproduction of plate 668 , pattern without the stem sticking above the Y Note that original of this pattern had roman numerals used presumably for bench marks. This mark was apparently filed off of the casting master, this mlling work is apparent above the tongue. Research Center: Plate5399-NewYork-668-FAKE-FANTASY-REPRODUCTION . P2871 ### Hanover Brass repro: New York Sword Belt Plate. This is an example of Hanover Brass commercial grade reproduction, the plate has been produced in quantity, sold to the living history market, and is generally readily available. The product has also been used as feedstock for fakes, with chemical aging and other alterations. Gary Williams has provided the following pictures and explanation: Photo # USNY1 Plate 668 (1861-1863 New York Sword Belt Plate.) 47 x 81mm. Marked GW. Charles Burnette has the original that I copied. This is one of the very first sword belt plates I cast a pattern from. The reproduction is a very close copy and the one pictured has the applied hook just as the original. Mostly I cast the hook and they should not be a problem. If I apply the hook it is a lot thicker than the original hook. This reproduction is one to two mm's smaller than the original. Research Center: Plate5399-NewYork-000-FAKE-FANTASY-REPRODUCTION .
