P2899 ### Hanover Brass repro: Texas or Mississippi Two Piece Belt Plate. This is an example of Hanover Brass commercial grade reproduction, the plate has been produced in quantity, sold to the living history market, and is generally readily available. The product has also been used as feedstock for fakes, with chemical aging and other alterations. Gary Williams has provided the following pictures and explanation: Photo # CSTX2 Plate 315 (1861-1865 Texas or Mississippi Two Piece Belt Plate.) 48 x 74/wreath ht. 49mm. Marked GW. Original from the DuBose collection. This plate can be faked because it is a close copy of the original. I cut the back of the tongue out for a reference. The original tongue bar is solid not cut out. Worn by Mississippi or Texas. A crude war time casting so size would be different on all these belt plates. They were hand filed.
