P2652 ### Hanover Brass repro: CS two part, Script CS.
This is an example of Hanover Brass commercial grade reproduction, the plate has been produced in quantity, sold to the living history market, and is generally readily available. The product has also been used as feedstock for fakes, with chemical aging and other alterations. Gary Williams has provided the following pictures and explanation:
Photo # CS2P16 Plate 002 (variant) Script CS Two Piece Belt Plate 47 x 84/wreath ht.49mm. GW stamped in back. From the collection of the Virginia Historical Society. In 1981 Gary Williams/Hanover Brass Foundry copied the Maryland Steuart buckle collection. This Script CS was one of the many Confederate belt plates copied. The reproductions were put on display while the originals were locked away for safe keeping. Check this plate's flaws and study them. I see this plate faked often.

Photo # CS2P57Plate 002 variant (Script CS Two Piece Belt Plate) 47 x 84/ wreath ht. 84. This plate is probably cast by the same foundry as CS2P16. Both plates have thicker belt bars and the same type wreath. The original of this plate was owned by Shannon Pritchard. You can see the many flaws in the reproduction so this plate should not be a problem .
