P2680 ### Hanover Brass repro: CS two part, Rectangular, Leech & Rigdon.
This is an example of Hanover Brass commercial grade reproduction, the plate has been produced in quantity, sold to the living history market, and is generally readily available. The product has also been used as feedstock for fakes, with chemical aging and other alterations. Gary Williams has provided the following pictures and explanation:
Photo # CS2P44 Plate 029 Rectangular (Leech & Rigdon) CS Two Piece Belt Plate. 57 x 83/wreath ht.36mm. GW stamped in the back. This is a very rare plate and you need to pick a flaw to study. If you look closely I did a little touch-up to the wreath detail. These were cast with high copper content but 140 years of age on red brass gives it a yellow bronze look. I have cast many of this reproduction plate but all have the same flaws. You need to remember that there is only one belt plate out there that is original, all the others are reproduction from this original.

Photo # CS2P49 Plate 029 (variant) Rectangular CS Two Piece Belt Plate. 57 x 83/wreath ht.38mm. Marked GW. Army of Tennessee belt plate. Wide belt bar is for Artillery belt. I went over the detail to make this a better looking buckle to wear. This should be very helpful when you compare to the original.
