F1169 CS eleven stars, 2 piece buckle THIS IS A TEXAS CONFEDERATE TWO PIECE BUCKLE SET. IT HAS A WREATH OF ELEVEN STARS AND CS. IT IS 2 1/4 X 1 1/2 INCHES IN DIAMETER. IT IS IN ORIGINAL CONDITION FOUND, IN TEXAS.Source: ebay auction by ucvictoria, 8/3/06, EXCELLENT 1861TEXAS CS BELT BUCKLE Item number: 130011957548 Editor note: I have not had opportunity to examine this buckle, nor have I had an original to compare to so cannot say definitely about this buckle. The measurements do not make sense (2.25 inches is 57mm and 1/2 inch is 13mm so I do not know what is being measured. I publish this item to solicit comments. It is highly unlikely that this plate can be shown to be authentic.

P2663 ### Hanover Brass repro: CS two part, CS with stars.
This is an example of Hanover Brass commercial grade reproduction, the plate has been produced in quantity, sold to the living history market, and is generally readily available. The product has also been used as feedstock for fakes, with chemical aging and other alterations. Gary Williams has provided the following pictures and explanation:
