P2615 ### Hanover Brass repro: CSA rectangle belt plate, rounded corners.
This is an example of Hanover Brass commercial grade reproduction, the plate has been produced in quantity, sold to the living history market, and is generally readily available. The product has also been used as feedstock for fakes, with chemical aging and other alterations. Gary Williams has provided the following pictures and explanation:
Photo # CSGP5 Plate 110 (Round Corner) CSA Belt Plate. 51 x 69mm. GW stamped in the back. Original is in the collection of Jim Legg. The original of this plate had soldered belt hooks. My reproduction plate has the hooks cast to the plate. Someone could break the hooks off and solder the right hooks over the broken hooks. This plate is 2mm smaller than the original and has face flaws that you can go by. This type of plate is dug around the Wilmington,NC area. Very rare.
