P2634 ### Hanover Brass repro: CS rectangle belt plate, rounded corners.
This is an example of Hanover Brass commercial grade reproduction, the plate has been produced in quantity, sold to the living history market, and is generally readily available. The product has also been used as feedstock for fakes, with chemical aging and other alterations. Gary Williams has provided the following pictures and explanation:
Photo # CSGP25 (actually CSGP34)Plate 135 (Sardine Lid) CS Belt Plate. 55 x 83mm. GW stamped in the back. This CS Sardine should not be a problem. The original was die stamped with applied hooks. My reproduction is sand cast with wrong style hooks and even if someone broke the hooks off and applied the right style hooks the plate is still too thick.
