FP1407 CS oval buckle Breckinridge styleEditor note: Plate was listed on my webpage for a brief period, then recalled and sent back to its source. The seller originally got this piece off of ebay. The buckle appears to have been stamped without a counter die and is thus indistinct. Solder marks were placed on the back to deceive. My opinion is that this is repro, I returned it to my source and did not sell it. P2631 ### Hanover Brass repro: CS oval belt plate.
This is an example of Hanover Brass commercial grade reproduction, the plate has been produced in quantity, sold to the living history market, and is generally readily available. The product has also been used as feedstock for fakes, with chemical aging and other alterations. Gary Williams has provided the following pictures and explanation:
Photo # CSGP22 Plate 150 (Breckinridge) CS Oval Belt Plate. 57 x 85mm. Marked GW. This reproduction CS was cast from a die-struck Breckinridge and cast thicker than the die-struck original. You should not have a problem because of the thickness and it is different than the cast Breckinridge. The face is smooth where the cast type has a sand surface. See Plate 154 and compare the difference. Also use the flaws in the border of this plate.
