W1120 ### Staff and field officer saber, Model 1850, P D Luneschloss. . The model 1850 staff and field officer saber was intended for field officers and up generally. The staff and field sword is heavier than the foot officer sword and includes a prominent US adorned into the design of the grip. Manufactured by P D Luneschloss, Solingen Prussia. Marks: ricasso is marked PDL. This was manufactured by P D Luneschloss, Solingen Prussia. The officer sword intended for the American military is etched with US and other patriotic symbolism. Standard features include: steel blade has flat back with narrow and wide fuller stopped at the ricasso. Brass hilt has three branches, brass pommel cap and guard are adorned with floral designs. Handle is wood with a swell, covered with sharkskin and a grip of twisted brass wire. Iron scabbard with iron mountings, throat is secured by rivets and is typical of European origin. Grip has sharkskin wrap and wire intact, leather washer is present, handle is intact with minor wiggle, scabbard is intact.

These are antique collectible weapons of the Civil War (most are pre 1865, unless I state otherwise) and actual firing of these weapons is not recommended for any purpose whatsoever! Because these are all "pre 1898" weapons, no licenses are required for ownership, but common sense and good judgment should be applied.
