The model 1860 staff and field officer sword was modified after the Civil War to decorate the reverse counterguard with a patriotic design. Manufactured by Ridabock & Co , New York, this is a well known military goods supplier operating after the Civil War. Marks: ricasso: RIDABOCK &CO / NEW YORK. acid etched on the blade, Research Center: Weapon5171-Sword-Army-Officer-Staff-Model-1860-Ridabock . Blade length, 31in.

These are antique collectible weapons of the Civil War (most are pre 1865, unless I state otherwise) and actual firing of these weapons is not recommended for any purpose whatsoever! Because these are all "pre 1898" weapons, no licenses are required for ownership, but common sense and good judgment should be applied.
