W0779 ### Officer saber, non-regulation, F Potter. . Saber is non-regulation, made in Europe for the American market. Officers could use their allowance to purchase them. This well made saber is believed to have been made by F Potter, Soligen. It was clearly made for the US market, it bears a patriotic guard bearing US, and blade etched with US. Manufactured by Tiffany Neew York. Marks: ricasso, PROOF on an brass inlay, and shows graphic of a hare's head and FP. Standard features include: The handle resembles an earlier British design, the all steel guard and handle resemble other products imported through Tiffany. Research Center: Weapon5811-Sword-Army-Officer-Nonregulation-Potter . Reference: Thillmann Cav. & Arty. Sabers, pg. 291. Blade length, 33.5in. Sharkskin wrap and wire intact, iron guard, US etching is weak but definite, scabbard.

Because these are all "pre 1898" weapons, no licenses are required for ownership, but common sense and good judgment should be applied.
