W0529 ### Militia officers sword. . This beautiful militia sword is believed to have come from Maine, (not verified), and probably dates to 1840 or earlier. Manufacturer not known. Marks: no maker identifying marks, Standard features include: etchings on the blade, ivory handle, and gilded knot, and brass scabbard. Research Center: Weapon5891-Sword-Army-Officer-Nonregulation-Not-Identified . Reference: Thillman Army Swords pg 33. Blade length, 29.5in. This beautiful militia sword is believed to have come from Maine, (not verified), and probably dates to 1840 or earlier.It is ornate, beautiful etchings on the blade (sorry no marks that I can find) ivory handle, and gilded knot, and brass scabbard.This truly would have made an elegant statement. |
