W0695 ### Dragoon Saber, Starr contract 1818. . Nathan Starr contracted for 10,000 of these sabers between 1820 and 1821 Manufactured by Nathan Starr. Marks: ricasso US / P / LS / N STARR. Standard features include: scabbard is iron, originally japanned, two iron rings brazed, scabbard never had a throat. Research Center: Weapon6301-Sword-Dragoon-Contract-1818-Starr . Blade length, 32in. Scabbard is iron, originally japanned, two iron rings brazed, scabbard never had a throat   Wood grip is intact, not sure there was a wire wrap or not as the example in Crouch's book does not have a wire wrap.Handle is solid and attractive, blade is relatively clean with light pitting, scabbard intact, some traces of original jappaning.

These are antique collectible weapons of the Civil War (most are pre 1865, unless I state otherwise) and actual firing of these weapons is not recommended for any purpose whatsoever! Because these are all "pre 1898" weapons, no licenses are required for ownership, but common sense and good judgment should be applied.
