W0827 ### Dragoon Saber, Model 1833, Soligen . The model 1833 dragoon saber was closely modeled after the similar British model 1821. Sword was introduced with the three branches on the hilt, this feature appears on all later versions of the cavalry saber. Manufactured by a Soligen maker. Marks: ricasso, SOLIGEN with arrows in an oval border. Standard features include: brass cover is fitted on top of Grip, grip is lead covered and wrapped in brass wire. Quillion is distinct scroll. The blade features a rounded edge at the top and is not stopped. Research Center: Weapon6416-Sword-Dragoon-Model-1833-Soligen . Reference: Thillmann Cav. & Arty. Sabers pg. 51. Blade length, 34in. Leather wrap is intact, wire is loose, etching is clear with some areas of pitting, Scabbard is intact.

These are antique collectible weapons of the Civil War (most are pre 1865, unless I state otherwise) and actual firing of these weapons is not recommended for any purpose whatsoever! Because these are all "pre 1898" weapons, no licenses are required for ownership, but common sense and good judgment should be applied.
