W1112 ### Confederate cavalry saber, Boyle & Gamble. . The Confederates liberally followed the Model 1840 wrist-breaker designs, using features such as the handle with with slight curve, and hilt with three branches, otherwise there is much variation. This pattern, is tentatively attributed to Boyle & Gamble, Richmond Virginia, based on the crude cast recess on the guard, however it is not marked with the maker name. Manufactured by Boyle & Gamble, Richmond Virginia Standard features include: pommel has contours similar to the Federal pattern. Handle has single curve, and is oil cloth covered with a single strand of copper wire which is not twisted. Blade has no fullers. Research Center: Weapon7511-Sword-Confederate-Boyle-Gamble .
