Confederate Cavalry saber, possible Kenansville. . This saber which is modeled after the Federal Model 1840, differs in a number of respects, the most notable being the unstopped fuller. The point on the guard is thought by some collectors to be a product of Kenanville, North Carolina. Whether this manufacturer or another this is typical of Confederate manufacturer in any of many small factories in the south. Because these are all "pre 1898" weapons, no licenses are required for ownership, but common sense and good judgment should be applied.
