Bayonet, model 1816, socket, .69 cal. . Socket bayonet was produced for use with the Model 1816 series of muskets, most of these were converted to percussion in the 1850's. The bayonet socket is distinguished by use of a T mortise, no tightening bands, flat wide blade with no flutes. Most are marked: US, additional inspector marks.
