| Button-1112-Army-Officer-spherical-eagle Button-1112-Army-Officer-spherical-eagle {Albert's SU 2} Connecticut Militia, general use; spherical, two-piece. After a recent tr1-part to the West Point Museum, Mr. Fred Briggs reported that, he could find no cadet uniforms bearingthis button. The museum curator also stated that the item was never used at West Point. A search through the museum storage area revealed similar buttons on a garment tagged "Connecticut Militia." Albert has previously classified the button as a West Point Cadet type since it is labeled "West Point" in the Spies 1826 sample book. Another ball button, MAIO0AI is known to cany a "FOR WEST POINT/ SPIES" back.mark. I believe that the Spies label refers to the plain ball button which was removed from the sample card and later replaced with the ball / eagle button. Militia companies of several states, besides Connecticut, undoubtedly used ball buttons bearing the eagle design.
