Smoothbore artillery projectile, spherical ball, solid shot, Columbiad smoothbore, 10 in. Projectile was manufactured in the Federal arsenals for the Columbiad seige gun. This solid shot was probably a test round, used to stress test the guns. Projectile measures: diameter 9.85in., weight 120lbs. A0132...Smoothbore artillery projectile, spherical ball, solid shot, Columbiad smoothbore, 10 in. Projectile was manufactured in the Federal arsenals for the Columbiad seige gun. This solid shot was probably a test round, used to stress test the guns. Projectile measures: diameter 9.85in., weight 122lbs. Projectile is disarmed, solid iron casting never had a cavity or bursting charge. Recoverd: Norfolk, Virginia, Navy Yard from a demolition. Ref: Bell Heavy Ordnance, pg. 72.
