Rifled artillery projectile, Parrott design with Confederate adaptation, Confederate manufacture, solid bolt, pattern with flat nose smooth sides, copper high band ring sabot, Confederate rifle, 3in. Projectile was Confederate manufactured during the war apparently an attempt to copy Parrott design This pattern utilized a flat top and smooth sides with a high band sabot similar to a bolt manufactured for the north. The casting is extremely crude and bears a prominent casting sprue on the bottom. Projectile measures: diameter 2.95in., length 6.25in. (excluding fuze), weight 8.1lb.
