Rifled artillery projectile, Selma Arsenal design, Confederate Selma manufacture, solid bolt, "tear drop" pattern with single bourreleted ring, pointed nose, copper disc sabot, Confederate rifled 32 pounder, 6.4in. Projectile is Confederate manufactured at the arsenal at Selma, Alabama. The pattern utilized a thick copper disc sabot cast around a clover leaf post on the bottom of the shell. Most production was originally stamped with "G" denoting Selma, the stamping is usually on the sabot but is sometimes weak. This pattern, referred to as the "tear drop" design, utilized a single bourrelet ring and sharply pointed nose. Projectile measures: diameter 6.3in., length 8.5in. (excluding fuze), weight 43.6lbs.
