B1080...South Carolina state button or cadet button, palmetto tree with SC, likely Citadel, "EXTRA / (star) RICH (star)" rmdc, (18.3mm) Button depicts the South Carolina state seal, the Palmetto tree with "SC", intended for South Carolina troops, this size was most commonly used by Citadel cadets. Backmark: "EXTRA / (star) RICH (star)" rmdc. unknown manufacture, ca 1840s or 1850s, (Extra.821). Two part convex button, vest or cadet coat size. Nondug button. Reference: Albert SC16, TiceSC248.
