Backmark-Palanzuelos000 . Palanzuelos was a Cuban firm, Scovill supplied buttons to this firm in the 1850's. Apparently there were a number of backs left over from the production run, which Scovill later used on northern state buttons, where inspection was lax.

Backmark-Palanzuelos100 . Backmark: PALANZUELOS / (dot) MENENDEZ. Y. CA (dot) rmdc on stippled background, Scovill produced ca 1850's. Two part button, large coat size, 23mm. Reference: Tice, Dating Buttons.

Backmark-Palanzuelos120 . Backmark: MENENDEZ. Y. CA dm , Scovill produced for a Cuban firm, then used as a mismatch on northern buttons ca 1860. Name of this firm was Palanzuelos Menendez. Y. CA, apparently the first part of this name was dropped on the small size button to abbreviate. Two part button, hat or sleeve size, 15mm. Reference: Tice, Dating Buttons.
