Federal officer button, eagle with shield, "G. W. SIMMONS & CO. / (dot) BOSTON (dot)" dm, (22mm). Button was intended for officers, depicting patriotic symbolism of eagle grasping arrows for war and olive branch for peace. Backmark: "G. W. SIMMONS & CO. / (dot) BOSTON (dot)" dm outer ring, manufactured after the Civil War, (SimmonsGW100). Three part button, coat size.
