Note, this backmark is identical on staff coat size, and two part large coat size, use on coat size is similar with difference in spacing only. Federal infantry button,, (SteeleJohnson201), (two part button, coat size, 20mm). Backmark: "STEELE. / & JOHNSON. & " dm between two rings, ca 1850's to 1860's, (SteeleJohnson201). Research Center: Button1200-FedInfantry-SteeleJohnson201, Die pattern, eagle wings are neat and symmetrical, tail with five feathers are nearly equal in length, shield has a relatively high point at the top.

Federal artillery button, eagle with "A", (SteeleJohnson201), (two part button, large coat size, 22mm). Button was intended for artillery and depicts eagle with "A" in the shield, generally for officers. Backmark: "STEELE. / & JOHNSON. & " dm between two rings, ca 1850's to 1860's, (SteeleJohnson201).
