Research Center: Button1200-FedInfantry-SteeleJohnson220
Federal infantry button, eagle with "I" in shield, (SteeleJohnson220), (two part button, hat or sleeve size, 14mm).
Button was intended for infantry and depicts eagle with "I" in the shield, generally for officers. Backmark: "STEELE & JOHNSON / (dot) " dm, inner ring, ca 1860s, only used in small size, (SteeleJohnson220).
Research Center: Button1200-FedInfantry-SteeleJohnson220. Die pattern, eagle wings are neat and symmetrical, tail with five feathers are nearly equal in length, shield is not symmetrical. Reference: Albert GI82 to GI91, Tice GI206 and GI215.

B0970... Georgia button, state seal, dome with Constitution over three pillars, "STEELE & JOHNSON / (dot) " dm, (14 mm). Backmark: "STEELE & JOHNSON / (dot) " dm, inner ring, ca 1860s, only used in small size, (SteeleJohnson200).
