Federal artillery button, eagle with "A", "S. &. J. / (graphic) (star) (graphic) LONDON (graphic) (star) (graphic)" dm, (22mm). Button was intended for artillery and depicts eagle with "A" in the shield, generally for officers. Backmark: "S. &. J. / (graphic) (star) (graphic) LONDON (graphic) (star) (graphic)" dm between outer ring of large dots, inner ring of slashes, likely manufactured after the Civil War, (SteeleJohnson400). Two part button, large coat size. Research Center: Button1250-FedArtillery-SteeleJohnson400, Die pattern is fancy, motif is applied, shield is stippled, this was likely made for one of the officer catalogs.
