Fastner utililized a typical Federal general service button, but was manufactured with a hoopk attachment to secure a cape or a poncho. Two part flat button. Button1295-Federal-GeneralService-zblankNoText940 Federal army general service, cape fastner. Backmark-zblankNoText940 Fastner utililized a typical Federal general service button, but was manufactured with a hoopk attachment to secure a cape or a poncho. Backmark: iron back, affixed with iron clasp for poncho. Back is lightly stamped, PAT NOV 1862. This is not readable on most due to rusting of the iron back. Maker is not determined.
