Button depicts flaming bombs over crossed cannons and was intended for the Ordnance Department. Backmark: E. L. E. &. CO / LONDON dm, no rings, ELE was likely an English supplier, button may have been made by D Evans ca 1860's. Two part button, hat or sleeve size, 14mm to 16mm.

CO. dm no rings, made in small size only, these cuff or hat buttons were manufactured in the 1850s, rings or rmdc details used on the large size buttons were omitted as an abbreviation to fit the space, dots, spacing and punctuation may vary or be obliterated, Scovill apparently produced multiple copies of this die. Two part convex button, hat or sleeve size, 14mm to 16mm.

Backmark: WATERBURY BUTTON CO. / (star) (star) / WATERBURY / (graphic) CONN (graphic) dm, two middle rings, one is solid and other is twisted rope-like slashes, bottom inner ring of dots is faint and often obscured by shank brazing, ca 1860's and is transitional. Two part button, large coat size, 22mm to 23mm.
