Button4201-Iowa-LillyMC100 Iowa button, territorial symbolism, three part officer button. Backmark-LillyMC100 Iowa button. Iowa was admitted as a state in 1846. Iowa territorial symbolism, eagle holding arrow in beak, with bow in one talon. Although Territorial symbolism was used, these buttons were dated to the Indian War period, following the Civil War. Backmark: "M. C. LILLY & CO. / COLUMBUS O." dm between rings of dots, letters are without serifs, manufactured 1870's or later. Three part officer button, coat size, 22mm.
