Button depicts the state seal of Michigan, surrounded by extremely wide rim bearing the inscription UNIVERSITY OF MICHIGAN. The state seal used on this button matches a Scovill die used for other Michigan staff buttons. It is believed that this button was made either for a cadet program contemplated or could have been used by a member of the faculty, with a military orientation.
