Button5658-NewYork-Regiment9-1-NY226-Plated200 New York button, 9th Regiment, Hawkins Zouaves. Backmark-Plated200 New York militia organization, 9th Regiment New York Volunteer Infantry, Hawkins Zouaves. Button is hand engraved, H. Z./ 9 / N.Y.V, and probably made by Brooks Brothers, an early endeaver by the now well known New York retailer. Backmark: PLATED (surrounded by oval of dots) / bough of leaves and geometric designs, buttons supplied to New York unit. Buttons are hand engraved and were believed to have been made by a New York jeweler, Brooks Brothers in New York. One part flat button, large coat size, 21mm to 23mm.
