New York button, 9th Regiment, Hawkins Zouaves. Backmark-Plated200
New York militia organization, 9th Regiment New York Volunteer Infantry, Hawkins Zouaves. Button is hand engraved, H. Z./ 9 / N.Y.V, and probably made by Brooks Brothers, an early endeaver by the now well known New York retailer. Backmark: PLATED (surrounded by oval of dots) / bough of leaves and geometric designs, buttons supplied to New York unit. Buttons are hand engraved and were believed to have been made by a New York jeweler, Brooks Brothers in New York. One part flat button, large coat size, 21mm to 23mm.

New York militia organization, 9th Regiment. New York symbolism, geometric design, with SNY NG, and 9. Presumably this is 9th New York Regiment, a version used after the Civil War. Backmark: SCOVILL MF'G CO. / (star) (star) (star) dm no rings, made for small button only, ca1860s and may be transitional. Two part convex button, hat or sleeve size, 14mm to 16mm.

New York symbolism, geometric design, with SNY NG, and 9. Presumably this is 9th New York Regiment, a version used after the Civil War. Backmark: SCOVILL MF'G CO / (star) WATERBURY (star) dm small letters inner ring of dots, manufactured after the Civil War. Two part convex button, coat size, 19mm to 21mm.

New York symbolism, number 9, with wreath and OURS. Presumably this is 9th New York Regiment, a version used after the Civil War. Backmark: HORSTMANN / (+) PHILA. & NEW - YORK (+), dm between two rings of dots, ca 1860 to 1870, backmark may be transitional. Three part officer button, coat size, 22mm to 23mm.
