Button6720-Vermont-Milita-VT6-IndependentCadets100
Vermont Militia. Backmark-IndependentCadets100
Vermont Militia, Artillery, 1830's. It is not clear why this backmark was applied to Vermont Militia buttons. Independent Cadets was a Massachusetts unit. All of the marks are overstrikes over another backmark, including this one. This was probably a manufacturing mismatch. Backmark: INDEPENDENT CADETS, rm on a ribbon with laurel branches between ends, inner solid ring, flat one piece button, ca 1830's, overstruck over an earlier R&W Robinson mark. One part flat button, coat size, 22mm.
