Confederate general service button, English wartime manufacture. Many small differences in die details noted, shape of serifs and length of lines, multiple dies were likely used, but most of the differences are due to strength of the die strike, or wear.. Backmark: "S. BUCKLEY & Co / (dot) BIRMINGHAM (dot)" dm outer ring of dots, inner solid ring, S Buckley was an agent, English wartime manufacture for the Confederacy. Two part button, coat size, 22mm.

Confederate general service button, English wartime manufacture. Backmark: blank back (no text), convex or puffed back, area around the rim is flat giving appearance to an outer ring, only made in small size. Two part convex button, hat or sleeve size, 14mm to 16mm.

Confederate CSA button, other patterns. Button depicts CSA, may have been intended for Confederate Veterans, centennial, or other purpose.Most are manufactured after the Civil War. Backmark: "S. BUCKLEY & Co / (dot) BIRMINGHAM (dot)" dm outer ring of dots, inner solid ring. Mark is similar to the original but employs a distinct modern font style without serifs, believed to be English produced for the 1960's centennial. Two part button, coat size, 22.5mm.
